Ordering business cards may include design, preparation for printing and production. It is worth separating these elements, establishing data variants and confirming exactly what you will receive at the end.
Design and printing are separate parts
The offer may contain the graphic layout itself, production file or effort execution. Do not assume that all these components are automatically connected. Determine who chooses the printer and who checks the material's compliance with its requirements.
Pass the existing identification, format and data of the persons. If the logo or basic rules are yet to be created, then an additional scope is required to be agreed before the design of the card.
Prepare data in an orderly form
A common set of fields helps to avoid differences in position names and recording of contact. Mark elements identical to the entire team and personal data. Explain whether different languages or separate versions are needed for specific services.
For example, a set of business cards for several employees may contain one long name and an extended role. The project is worth checking on such a case, so that later it does not change the text size for one person.
Establish acceptance of the formula and options
First confirm the overall layout, then check each version of the data. Acceptance of one copy does not automatically confirm the correctness of all numbers and addresses. The person responsible for the order should collect the final confirmations.
Save:
- the number of versions and pages of the card;
- how the data are prepared;
- agreed materials and finishing;
- the scope of the corrections;
- files transmitted after completion;
- responsibility for production and reception.
Take care of your next orders
The company may need business cards for new people or after changing the contact. Determine how to update the template and where the final version is stored. This way, the next print will not require project playback from a small image.
Before printing, you still need control on a real scale. verification of the production file and connecting a card to a digital contact.
