The card can look good on the screen and cause problems after printing. The receipt of the project should include the content, readability and compliance of the file with the requirements of the selected printer.
Start with the data you can't see in the model
Read the name, position, telephone number and page address of the sign after the sign. Open the entered address, check the contact box and confirm the company name. If the card has a QR code, scan it on several devices from the sample printout in the target size.
It is good practice to separate the data from the assessment of appearance. A person who focuses on colour and composition may miss one digit. Show a specific person approving the content and the person accepting the final file for production.
Rate the actual scale
Do not make a decision solely on the basis of an enlarged preview. The workout allows you to assess whether the text can be read comfortably and whether important elements are not too close to the edge. Simulation on the screen will not show exactly the effect of paper, refinement or final color.
For example, an elegant card with a very small number may lose its basic function. Before reducing the text, consider shortening the position, limiting the number of addresses or transferring additional data to the other side.
Confirm parameters in a specific printer
There is no single set of settings suitable for each technology and each order. Give the designer a supplier specification for format, fall, safe area, colors and how to prepare additional items. Special finishes may require separate layers or files.
- Confirm the format of the finished card and layout of both sides.
- Check the selected paper with the intended finish.
- Agree how to prepare fonts and graphics.
- Ask for a production test with more or more demanding input.
Keep one approved version
The final file should have a unique name and acceptance date. Keep older variants separately. With the next person in the team, change the data in the agreed template rather than in an accidental copy sent many months earlier.
