Flash Pages: how to keep project history without blocking access

The former interactive website may be part of the company's history or portfolio. It is worth showing its character in the available form, separating the archive record from the current offer.

Name the archival nature of the material

The recipient should immediately understand that he is looking at an earlier version of the website or recording the project. Please provide a well-known context, stage and authorship of the materials. Do not present the previous price list or offer as current company information.

Flash has been withdrawn and should not be required to view a new site. Instead of proposing installing the plugin, prepare a text description, images or available record of action. The grounds are discussed in Flash Ending Material.

Select Project Explanatory Parts

You do not need to show each scene. Select elements that picture the idea: the navigation system, the presentation of the product or the characteristic sequence. Add the role they played. Without signatures, even effective discharges can be incomprehensible.

For example, three images can display an input screen, selection of categories and detailed view. A brief description allows you to track the logic without playing the entire application. If the material is incomplete, select the scope of the saved recording.

Do not play the shortcomings as facts

The preserved images do not always show all functions. Differentiate the documented solution from later reconstruction or modernization proposal. This also applies to dates, results and descriptions of your own participation in the work.

Prepare:

  • the sources of materials used;
  • confirmed signatures and authorship;
  • information on the archived version;
  • a description of the important elements;
  • a link to the current offer, if needed;
  • the method of contact concerning the project itself.

Take care of the convenience of watching

The archive should be readable on your phone and allow you to return to the description without difficult navigation. Do not depend on access to basic information from film or animation. The materials may supplement the text, but should not replace it. See also Recovery of old content i presentation of the project in portfolio.
