Do you have an old Flash page? Start by retrieving the content and arranging the materials before deciding how to recreate its appearance and functions.
First, determine what you really have
Adobe has completed Flash Player support. Information confirms official communication of the manufacturer. Modernisation of the old page should therefore lead to a solution operating in modern browsers.
Start with a copy of the site's files and materials received from the previous contractor. Separate source documents, ready-made publication files, graphics, recordings and texts. The file displayed by the browser itself does not need to contain everything needed to prepare the project. Also determine who has the rights and licenses for the items used.
Build a simple content card
For each passage, save the subject, type of material and planned use. Examples include presentation of the company, gallery of realization, price list and form.
Do not assume that the former layout will be the best structure of the new page. The animated presentation may have hidden texts in subsequent screens. During modernization, it is possible to give them separate, readable subpages or sections, while maintaining important material significance. It is also important to collect known addresses and links leading to the old service.
Example: gallery that is not in a separate folder
In an example project, the owner has a presentation file and several small screenshots, but there are no source photos. The enhancement of thumbnails will not play lost details. It is worth searching for material from the photographer or previous performer and checking archival copies before ordering a project based on large photographs.
If it is not possible to recover the originals, the decision must be taken into account in a new arrangement: prepare new pictures, use smaller illustrations or describe the implementations textually. This information changes the scope of work and schedule more than choosing the transition effect between the screens.
Don't move what without checking?
- Obsolete contact details, prices and terms of the offer.
- Materials without a confirmed right to further use.
- Messages dependent on outdated plugins.
- Decorative sequences that make it difficult to reach the content.
