Visual materials should support the meaning of the site. Photography, illustration and diagram have different roles, so it is worth choosing them according to the information that the recipient is to understand.
Select Image to Task
Photographs can show the actual product, person or realization. An illustration helps to present an idea, and the diagram explains relationships and stages. Not every paragraph needs separate graphics, but important material should have a clear connection with the description.
For example, a team photo can help you to get to know the company, but it will not automatically show the implementation process. A simple diagram with a short description of the actions can be better. The choice is not limited to a question which graphics are more effective.
Don't make the wrong impression.
If you present a concept or visualization, call it according to the character. The material should help evaluate the offer, do not add unconfirmed facts.
Before publication, check the possibility of using images and the rules for signing the author. It is worth storing source information together with files so that the subsequent use does not require playback of purchase history or consent.
Fit Image to Composition
Check framing on different screens. An important piece of product or face should not disappear under or off the edge. If an illustration contains information, also take care of its clear explanation in the content.
Prepare for project:
- a list of places requiring an image;
- the purpose of each material;
- the available files and their sources;
- the proportions and options needed;
- signatures and descriptions;
- the rules for subsequent substitution in CMS.
Keep a common character without monotony
A repetitive palette or method of framing can combine different materials. You do not need to use an identical image in each section. It is more important that graphics do not introduce conflicting styles and do not displace content.
When receiving, check the entire page, also the rate of loading the materials. More can be found in preparation of photos and work with project inspirations.
