Content and AI

How do you write understandable content for people, Google and AI systems?

A good text gives an answer, shows the basis and explains the limitations. See how to conduct the editing of the material and turn general declarations into useful information for the recipient.

Good content is not written for the algorithm at the expense of man. It should respond quickly to the question and at the same time show the basis of the answer: experience, data, source or clearly described process. Such design helps the reader and makes it easier for systems to recognize the meaning of the material.

One question and a clear promise of material

The title should define the problem and scope. The introduction confirms what the reader will learn, and the next headlines lead by decision. We avoid titles that promise everything and do not provide concrete.

If the article responds to several distant intentions, it is worth separating it. If questions are successive stages of the same process, they should stay in one complete material.

Answer first, explanation later

Under the header we first give a short answer and then arguments and exceptions. This arrangement corresponds to the way the page is scanned and facilitates the use of content in short summaries.

This does not mean writing the definitions themselves. The greatest value is created by examples, comparisons, a list of consequences and an indication when a given recommendation does not work.

Add an experience that is not in the compilation

The description of the real error, the way in which the decision is tested, the order of implementation or the impact of decisions on the client is more valuable than the paraphrase of popular advice. Own photos, anonymized data and project conclusions build the recognition of the source.

If we use external information, link to the original document and separate the fact from our interpretation. This is important especially in fast-changing technological topics.

Structure and language

We use one H1, descriptive H2, shorter paragraphs, letters only where the elements are equivalent, and tables for actual comparisons. We do not bold up entire fragments and do not use capital letters as a substitute for hierarchy.

The industry language is explained with first use. Synonyms appear naturally, but we do not create sentences just to repeat the phrase.

Editorial, author and update

Before publication we check facts, links, consistency of headers and compliance with the offer. The material has an author or responsible team, date and verification information if the subject is technical.

The update should change the content: add new data, improve an outdated passage or extend an example. The change of date itself does not make an article fresh.

Checklist

  • Define one of the reader's main questions.
  • In each H2 give an answer before development.
  • Add an example or application from actual work.
  • Link to primary sources and related content.
  • Show the author, date and scope of the update.

Check out what really results from each paragraph

Read the passage and ask what new information the recipient receives. The sentence “we offer comprehensive solutions of the highest quality” does not explain the scope of the work. It can be replaced by a description of specific activities, but only those that really belong to the service.

Editorial example: instead of the “panel is intuitive” declaration, show the task that the user can perform — change the text, add a picture and check the preview. If the function depends on the implementation, check this condition. The precision should not change the cautious information into an unwarranted promise.

Make Two Separate Reading Rounds

The first round is about the facts: names, dates, ranges of services, sources and examples. The second is about understanding: order of thought, length of sentences, explanation of concepts, and connections between sections.

  • Emphasise the sentences that require confirmation by a specialist.
  • See if the example illustrates exactly the situation under discussion.
  • Remove repetitions that do not add a condition or explanation.
  • Compare the ending of the text with the promise contained in the title.

It is worth asking another person for a brief summary of the material. If he understands it differently than the author, check which wording leads to discrepancies.

Expand content where there is no answer

A longer text makes sense when adding the necessary stage, consistency or example. You do not need to add a similar paragraph under each header just to level out the volume. Some questions require a short definition, other process description and some exceptions.

When you update, keep the address and the subject of the material if it still meets its purpose. Write down important changes to make the editorial board know what has been improved. Finally, check the links and information common to the offer. Readability does not result from mechanical application of the scheme, but from the fact that subsequent passages solve the doubts with which the recipient came to the website.

The most common questions

How many words should an article have?

As much as it takes for a complete answer, length does not replace usability.

Is it worth using AI generated content?

AI may help in sketch or analysis, but publication requires verification, experience and liability of the author.

Do you have to repeat the phrase often?

No. The topic should be based on the title, headlines, examples and natural vocabulary.
