The structure of the website should reflect customer questions. See how to translate the company's extended offer into a simple menu and understandable subpages.
Start with content to find
The construction of the site for the company from Warsaw should not begin by placing random bookmarks. First, collect the information needed for customers: types of services, conditions of cooperation, area of activity and answers to doubts.
Internal division of the company is not always a good menu. The name of the department may be known to employees, but do not tell the recipient where the solution to its problem is. It is worth checking the naming on several people who did not participate in the preparation of the structure.
Group as needed, not the number of paragraphs
If two services respond to different situations, separate subpages can facilitate comparison. If you describe one service with several steps, multiple addresses can only distract the content. The decision should be based on the recipient’s task and the amount of separate information.
Save one main question for each subpage. “What does the fixed service look like?” and “How do I order a one-time help?” may require other forms and arguments. If two addresses have the same answer, it is worth re-assessing the division.
Example: offer for two groups of customers
An example company supports small offices and larger organizations. Part of the process is shared, but the requirements for reporting and reporting differ. On the site you can first help choose the right range and common rules show in one place.
You do not need to copy all paragraphs to every version of the offer. Links between subpages may lead to a description of the process, contact and specific guides. You should know why the link is useful before opening it.
How do I check the menu plan?
Prepare a few tasks, such as finding the requirements to evaluate or how to arrange a meeting. Show the structure itself without decorative graphics and see if the first step is obvious. Save the places where the names are ambiguous.
- Each important subpage has its own task.
- The names on the menu are understandable without knowing the company.
- Common information has one current source.
- The path to contact fits the selected range.
Broader Rules Describes Information architecture for the site. Read about the content of a single service in guide about the offer page.
