Creating a website — Think of a Returning Recipient

The site supports both the first visit and the return for specific information. It is worth keeping clear places for contact, documents and the current offer, even when the service is being developed.

The site supports both the first visit and the return for specific information. It is worth keeping clear places for contact, documents and the current offer, even when the service is being developed.

Distinguish the company and come back quickly

The new recipient may need an explanation of the offer. The person who returns after the interview is more often looking for a number, description of the agreed service or document. The arrangement should support both tasks, without each presentation being carried out throughout the company.

It is worth collecting questions from the service staff: to which places are most often addressed by customers and what are the recipients difficult to find again?

Keep recognisable landmarks

The menu, department names and way of presenting the contact should be consistent. When expanding the service do not change them accidentally just because new material has appeared. Each change is worth assessing also from the perspective of the person who remembers the previous layout.

This does not mean a ban on improving navigation. It is a conscious decision and keeping a clear path to what is still needed.

Distinguish Newness from Basic Information

  • The current message should not block the contact.
  • The completed action should not occupy the main place without explanation.
  • The document should have a clear name and an indication of the version.
  • Links provided to the customer should remain useful.

If the website presents changes to the offer, briefly explain their meaning. The date of publication itself may not be enough for the recipient to recognize what concerns it.

Test your return after break

Ask a person to find out again after seeing another part of the service. See if he remembers the logical place or if he needs to start searching from scratch. Please note the menu and the scrolling length on the phone.

We write about the names of the sections in Navigation label guideA well-prepared website helps not only discover the offer, but also conveniently return to it in subsequent stages of the decision.
