The portal with announcements, comments or materials from users needs a process of handling these content. The add-on form is only the beginning — it is also important to verify, correct and respond to problems.
Specify what can be added
When planning a portal for customers from Warsaw or a wider area, describe the types of materials allowed. Announcements, events and comments require different fields and presentation rules. One unlimited editor may make it difficult to maintain order.
For example, the report of the event needs a date and place, and the expert entry of information about the author and the subject. The scope of fields should result from later use of data.
Explain what happens after sending
The user should know whether the content appears immediately, or is waiting for a review. Confirmation may indicate the status and how to supplement the material. Do not promise a response time that the team is unable to maintain.
If the report needs to be improved, it is worth explaining a particular reason. The message itself “rejected” does little to help the author prepare the correct version.
Prepare tools for handling
- Queue of new materials with readable statuses.
- The ability to check the author to the extent necessary for service.
- A history of important decisions and changes.
- How to report a problem with already published content.
The rights and principles of publication should be adapted to the nature of the portal. Issues of regulations and legal obligations require separate development appropriate to the service; the moderation panel itself does not resolve them.
Check the process from both sides
Send the test material, send it to correct, correct and publish. Then check the bug report in the finished entry. This way you evaluate the operation of the entire circulation, not just the input form.
