An older presentation could combine animation, film and music. When moving it to the contemporary site, it is worth separately assessing each material and providing understandable content without automatic playback.
Search for original files
Before you start playing the presentation from the dumps, check the archive of photos, videos and recordings. The originals may have better quality than the material embedded in the old file.
Not every sound or movie still fits the offer. Older material can show an outdated product, data or terms of cooperation. Modernization is an opportunity to make editorial decisions, not just to replace the format.
Decide what the role of multimedia is
The film may explain the performance of the product, show the implementation or build the atmosphere. Music in the background does not usually provide the information necessary for contact with the company. The user should be able to decide to play the sound material himself.
For example, the user manual may need subtitles and a short description of the steps. This means that the person who sees without sound still understands the process. Important information should not exist only in a recording which cannot be easily viewed.
Prepare material for the publication site
Set the size of the preview, quality, way of loading and control. Check the page on your phone and at a weaker connection. Do not assume that a file prepared for presentation on a large screen will be suitable for every visitor.
The checklist shall include:
- the actuality of the content of the recording;
- readable initial image;
- Understandable control;
- subtitles or appropriate textual development;
- lack of blocking the important content of the website;
- the possibility of moving to the offer without waiting for the end of the film.
Keep the sense of presentation without the old plugin
Flash Player is not a solution that should be requested from users of a new site. You can keep valuable material by choosing the current presentation method and a clear context.
