A good graphic design starts with organized materials. A list of formats, current content and clear rules for using photos help move from idea to finished files without unnecessary alterations.
Make a list of things to be created
The slogan itself “promotional materials” does not specify the scope of the work. A leaflet, a banner for the website and a graphics for social publication may belong to one campaign, but require different proportions, amounts of text and way of reception. Write out each material separately, along with the place of use.
In cooperation with the designer in Warsaw, determine whether you need trial prints, meeting with physical materials or contact with a printer. Not every task requires a meeting, but it is difficult to assess issues related to the background or finishing only on the screen.
Separation of approved and working content
In one folder, place the current logo, texts, photos and possible brand guidelines. Mark which materials are ready to use and which remain the proposal. This way, the designer will not treat the unapproved price or the old address as the final information.
- Join the logo with available vector files and application rules.
- Save the source and the confirmed usage range with the photos.
- For texts, indicate the person responsible for accepting the facts.
- For each format, specify the most important action of the recipient.
If something is missing, type it in the scope of the order. Preparation of the text, purchase of the picture and drawing up the illustration are separate tasks that affect the schedule.
Set the order for format development
First, it is worth accepting the direction on a representative material. Then move it to the whole series. This does not mean mechanical scaling of the project: vertical poster and wide banner need separate arrangement of elements.
Choose also one way to collect comments. Conflicting remarks sent separately by several people make work difficult. Helps specific way of reporting feedback.
Pick up the materials along with the instructions for use
At the end, check the completeness of the files according to the initial list. Distinguish versions for print and internet, approved color variants, and editable material if the transfer has been agreed. A brief description of the file names helps the team later to use the project without accidentally sending the wrong version.
