A poster for printing and its variety on the screen need a common message, but not always the same composition. The adaptation should keep the hierarchy and take into account the way of viewing.
Specify the places of use
Before designing, collect formats and reception situations. Paper on the board, screen in the lobby and publication viewed on the phone differ in proportions and times of contact. One composition less to any place may become illegible.
Together, set which data must remain visible in each version. Most often this will be the name, theme, deadline and next step, but the scope depends on a specific message. Advertising material and organizational information have other tasks.
Rebuild hierarchy if required by format
Do not extend the finished poster just to fill in a wide screen. Keep the proportions of illustrations and typography. Unfold the items again using the same theme and order of information.
For example, the vertical poster of the event may have a name above the image, and its wide variant — text next to the illustration. The recipient should still recognize the same action immediately. Matching does not mean creating an accidental second project.
Use a move with a specific target
If the screen version is to be animated, important data should remain easily available. Do not need to view the full sequence to know the term. A gentle change of the image can build attention, but should not constantly move content.
Check:
- whether the message operates without sound;
- whether each relevant element is legible;
- whether the return of animation does not create an empty screen;
- the movement does not obstruct the contact;
- whether there is a useful static version.
Approve the whole set
At the end of the check, place all the varieties next to you. Check the identity of the dates, addresses and content of the offer. Save the files by destination so that no working variant is available for publication. Read more about the preparation of the theme in image guide on the poster and media advertising planning.
