Creating a website and visiting Google: what to check after publication

The website launched and the page displayed in Google's results is not the same. After publication it is worth checking the availability of addresses, the ability to index and the way to present the most important subpages.

The website launched and the page displayed in Google's results is not the same. After publication it is worth checking the availability of addresses, the ability to index and the way to present the most important subpages.

Start from the page the recipient sees

Open the address without logging in to the panel and go through the basic path: main page, offer, contact and example article. Check if there is a construction message, password lock or link leading to the test version. This is a simple step, but publication errors can hide the finished content.

Important subpages should have their own addresses and links available on the site. The button itself that triggers the visual effect does not replace readable navigation between documents.

Distinguish the version published from the index

Search Console URL inspection allows you to check the Google version and test the current address. These are two different views. The result of the last page processing may not yet take into account today's amendment.

A positive test of the current page does not guarantee its indexation or specific position. Instead of treating it as a SEO success confirmation, use it to determine if Google can download the prepared content and whether there is a visible technical obstacle.

Check representative subpages

Do not limit control to the home page. Error in the category template or article can only apply to part of the service.

  • Verify that the correct addresses do not have an accidental identification noindex.
  • Check the canonical address and compatibility of links with the public version.
  • Assess whether the site map includes current indexing pages.
  • After migration, check the old links and redirect them.

The more precise technical scope is described in the guide o server addresses and answers.

Separate implementation errors from content development

If the site is available, the next task is its usefulness: a specific offer, understandable headers and answers to customer questions. A self-notification of the address will not replace these elements. Save the date of publication and significant changes to later compare observations from reports with actual actions. This allows you to avoid hasty conclusions after a single day without visiting the search engine.
